According to the band's myspace, The Johns are influenced by Stooges, Sex Pistols, Johnny Thunders, Ramones, Rolling Stones, Dead Boys and contain ex-members of Die Hunns and The Grabbers, so in SoCal terms they're a bit of a 'super'-group. With guitars which could have been recorded by The Distillers, this short three tracker is drenched in melodies, yet remains a punky edge. 'Crapped Out' reminds me a little bit of someone like ALL, and the lead guitar parts are cleverly used without ever coming across as pointless. My only complaint would be that this 3-tracker weighs in at just 8 minutes in length and as a result is over as quick as it has begun, but still, this is a fine introduction to the band if you like any of the aforementioned groups, The Johns are certainly ones to keep an ear on.
