In The Name Of The World EP, The Holy Fire
Continuing their policy of finding great, previously unheard of bands, The Militia Group throw The Holy Fire into the mix with a blaze of glory. Although this lot aren't as melodic as some of their recent acquisitions, there are still some strong choruses and plenty of singalong moments - although they are buried a bit deeper amongst a cacophony of symbals and driving riffs. Whilst Husker Du and Fugazi are cited as influences, The Holy Fire are certainly a lot less aggressive than their peers, making them a bit more accessible for the iPod-generation.

Whereas Cartel and The Class of 98 have a far warmer and well-rounded sound, The Holy Fire are certainly more raw. 'In The Name Of The World' is more melodic, but tracks like the frenetic 'We're Not Here To Learn' and 'Dreams To Spend' are highlights too. The Holy Fire may not be as instant as some of their labelmates, but they continue The Militia Group's tradition of solid releases and if you are a fan of the label, this lot are well worth checking out.
