If there's a more prolific British recording artist than Luke, I'm yet to meet them. This is his third release in a short space of time and shows a greater musical maturity than the last record I reviewed. But sadly my last major criticism still stands - Luke can't sing very well. While there's no doubting his talent as a pianist and as a songwriter, the vocals aren't up to scratch. Too many times he's left reaching for notes he shouldn't attempt, while at others he warbles off key badly. Yes, this is a harsh intro to a review, but this is the third release we have reviewed Luke and every time we have said the same thing. There's only so many ways you can hint at it without being blunt.

'We'd Better Make A Start' would be a beautiful song with a singer. 'The rain Will Come Again' is a real rough diamond, a track that could very easily be stunning with some spit and polish. But none of the songs here are performed as well as they deserve to be because of the vocals. My advice would be to keep writing and keep performing, because that side is rapidly becoming impressive. 'I'm Begging You' has glimpses of Bryce Avary (The Rocket Summer) and that shows just how talented Luke is - I can't stress that enough. But I think now is the time to stop the solo act and form a band with a singer that can take these songs to a level they probably deserve.

Sorry fella. I think you;re a talent but your own voice is now holding you back.
