Please Baxter, Don't Hurt 'Em, Baxter House
Third-rate Distillers soundalikes release six-track CD that sounds like it was recorded in a basement. Baxter House have a vocalist that screeches like Courtney Love in her early Hole days, a guitarist that likes the distortion pedal and no bass player. It's not that Rachel Mintz can't sing, it just all sounds so horribly familiar. The catty scowling during 'No Food' sounds like a track Brody Dalle would have left on the cutting room floor (and probably burned), while even the interesting efforts are let down by a lack of power in the guitars and the fact they don't have a bass player. If you're a Hole or Distillers fan then check this lot out, but don't expect to be wowed...
