Goodbye's The Hardest Part, Sucka
Another day, another boringly average release - will someone please send something in for review that's at least vaguely interesting? Sucka (who have a terrible, terrible name) can all play their instruments well and have reasonable song structures, but it's all so boring and predictable - it sounds the same as every local band who want to further their careers and get on the bottom rung of the ladder. You go and see a local gig at the pub down the road and there's a band like Sucka opening up - that's no offence to the band, just a terrible realisation that this is about as original as the script of Home and Away.

The EP's title track is far and away the best thing here - there's plenty of catchy melodies and a well produced sound, but there's nothing to separate Sucka from a thousand other bands that are ploughing their trade across small venues this side of the pond. It's indicative at the minute of the UK music scene, which after two or three years of producing so many great and inventive bands seems to be resting on its laurels slightly. Or maybe I'm just not hearing the right bands. There's a lack of bands wanting to push the envelope, merely settling for a sound paraded by so many others already. If Sucka want to get out of Aldershot they need to find their own sound or sharpen up the one they've got, otherwise you can expect to see them playing the same old support slots at the same old venues for some time yet.
