Quick Fix (single), 3dBs Down
3dBs down have been something of a success story as far as their relationship with this website goes. The band were unsigned when they appeared on the first ‘Un-Scene’ compilation. Following some positive comments and even a bit of radio 1 airplay the band were soon snapped up by On The Road Records. ‘Quick Fix’ is their first release on the label and is limited to a mere 100 copies.

This band first grabbed my attention when I received a copy of ‘Bottom of the Learning Curve’ and was struck with their confident blend of ska, rock and punk. However, the one thing that really made them stand out was the vocals. What is immediately apparent with ‘Quick Fix’ is that the band’s emphasis has been switched from ska to a much heavier, rockier sound. The change works well for the band and serves to enhance the superb vocal harmonies. In short it’s a very strong new track. The single also gives us old favourite ‘Magnificent Mediocre’ and the infectious ‘Bondage Queen’.

With ‘Quick Fix’ 3dBs down have whetted the appetite nicely for their forthcoming album ‘Can Of Worms’, and I for one am very much looking forward to it.
