One Final Patronising Kiss, The Outer Limits
Progressing from a demo they created over a year ago comes this five track EP showcasing yet more skacore tomfoolery. I’ll leave you to read the Ben G analysis of the band from when he reviewed their last effort, but many of his words still ring true today. While it is by no means a poor outing, it lacks any type of spark to really ignite the senses of the listener. At times it can become a little too generic, but apart from some minor nuisances such as this it is ultimately an enjoyable and solid EP, if lacking a little in the vital areas.

Luckily creating a rugged atmosphere within certain tracks is where the band specialise as the likes of ‘Fat Controller’ and ‘Christ Was a Utilitarian’ convey a thought provoking sound which is often diverse if lacking in that little bit of extra quality to really make the tracks stand out. ‘Left or Dead’ features some snazzy little horn sections but the best is left for last in the acoustic ‘Exit Pursued by a Glare’ which is quite beautiful and outshines any of the other heavier tracks on display. It is harsh to say that ‘The Outer Limits’ have little to offer the current music scene. They are clearly an energetic and enthusiastic pack and love what they do, but they need to try and find a little something extra if they wish to progress any further. The criticisms the demo received a year ago still ring true, and while frustrating, they are still a refreshing change from others on the current scene.
