Reasons That Keep The Ground Near, Lux Courageous
Triple Crown Records have a real talent for uncovering great young bands. Everyone knows about Brand New, Scraps and Heart Attacks were another and it looks as though Lux Courageous are the new pretenders to Triple Crown's throne. After starting out as a two-piece back in 2001, songwriters Adam LoPorto and PJ Tepe found new band members and the Lux you'll all come to know and love was formed. The band sound like all the main players - imagine your Brand News and Northstars - but at the same time sound nothing like anybody. That's probably the best comparison I can come up with, you're best just listening to these guys really and making up your own mind.

It's probably because they have oodles of melodies and catchy songs - I dare you not to sing along to the likes of 'Concrete (Broadway)' and 'Safe At Last'. There's just an irrestible swagger contained in their many killer hooks that will have you singing along like a crazed loon. In places the band manage to sound like Lucero or even Against Me, mixing up their sound to great effect. Lyrically they're nothing new, although they do the obvious things very well. 'Hey...It Just Feels Better' stands out for me as one of the best tracks on an interesting debut release.
