S/T, Aphasia
I suppose I’m best equipped to deal with this review because, unlike most people on this site, I actually quite like the Lostprophets, and if you look carefully out of the window you can see my credibility blowing away in the breeze. But hey, it’s a cross I’m going to have to bear because this CD sucks an incredible amount. I guess that’s my penance.

I should take that back - this isn’t all THAT bad, it’s just painfully derivative of the aforementioned Welsh crew, as well as shamelessly aping Incubus and the risible Hoobastank. And let’s face it, if you’re going to rip off a band you could at least make a better choice than Hoobafuckingstank. It’s all long, drawn-out vocals over crunching guitars that never strike out on their own but choose to stick to the same old chord sequences and riffs that, when ‘Make Yourself’ came out were pretty good, but now are just plain dull.

‘Compromise’ is a painfully self-indulgent ballad that keeps plodding on towards an interminable end, all cliches and attempted emoting via an acoustic guitar. Again, in isolation this wouldn’t be that bad, but it’s the knowledge that a good 3 years have passed since this sort of music was even slightly relevant - some record companies just suck at catching those darn trends. And don’t get me started on ‘Clarity’ - yet another ball of recycled cuttings from the late 90s.

When bands do half-arsed imitations and put them on a CD I think I’m justified in writing a half-arsed review. Do not buy this. It’s shit.
