Electricity Wiped Out Heaven, Threemovements
Three movements are from Essex. They're a 6 piece, consisting mainly of keys and samples and The promo sheet claims they are "free of pretension" and "lacking self indulgence". The song titles however are in the style of "6922/23" and "Alaskan morning comes only twice a year". A bit stretching of the truth if you ask me. The fourth track for instance "Ascension" consists mainly of cinematic style keyboards and viking style drums, with a public service announcement spoken over the top. If you're into this kind of mumbo jumbo, then Threemovements will tickle your fancy.

The CD never really picks up. It's very mid paced, there isn't much excitement, and maybe a little too much tinkling and little too much over production. It's very mellow, and wouldnt sound out of place in a modern Lord of the Rings ending credits sequence (if the end of LOTR was perhaps half an hour long). The Instruments themselves are played to an above average standard, but the songwriting lacks real punch and venom. Like I mentioned previously, the Threemovements train is full of steam, but never seems to leave the station.

If I were in Threemovements I wouldn't be downheartened by my negative review though. They will appeal, not to me, and probably not to a punktastic audience, but someone somewhere will hear them and probably have their senses set alight. At the end of this CD a sample of fireworks being let off is played, but to me this release is a damp squib in a wet cardboard box.
