A Glimpse of Harmony, Sold
When this CD first entered my player, I was worried I was lumbered with a band that didn’t have a redeeming charm about them. It’s the CD we all dread receiving and from the moment ‘Find the Words’ begins, the volley of screaming and singing quickly sets a tone we now dread to hear. This rant seems to crop up on a weekly basis, but please! It is time for something different kids, and if you must do it, try something which is going to shock and make us sit up and take notice. Unfortunately ‘Sold’ aren’t the breakthrough band we are looking for, but all hope is not lost.

But while I’m sounding like a complete cunt, it isn’t all bad. At times the band show a keen eye for a crafty change of melody and direction which is produced well on ‘Freedom and Comfort’ as it goes from a silky yet dark opening 90 seconds before building into a snarling cacophony of dirty vocals and jagged music. The highlight here though is the pounding ‘Red Dry Well’ as the snarling drums set the tone for the track on a surprising little number that seems a little more wholesome then the previous two encounters. The band are all relatively young and a long road certainly lies ahead. However by taking apart the final track and picking the best parts, it may not be as a long a trip as suggested.
