Watch the video for the beautifully heavy ‘House of Flowers’ by Earth Moves

By Ben Tipple

With their members not adverse to a balance of beauty and brutality, Earth Moves take what their other outfits achieve (We Never Learned To Live / Grappler / Cloud Boat) and maximise both extremes. Where ‘House Of Flowers’ is gentle, it’s stunningly serene. In its heavy moments, it’s catastrophic. Much like Deafheaven before them, both sides are heartbreaking in equal measure.

Set to release their debut album, ‘The Truth In Our Bodies’, through Holy Roar and Truthseeker Music, Earth Moves are quickly establishing themselves as atmospheric maestros. ‘House of Flowers’ as an indication of things to come, is breathtaking.

“‘House of Flowers was one of the first tracks we wrote, rehearsed and finished so it seems fitting that it’s the first song you hear from our album,” the band explain. “It includes many twists and turns, both musically and emotionally, and nicely encapsulates most aspects of our sound. It’s also got the closest thing to a guitar solo we’ve ever written; one day… We can’t wait for you to hear the full record and would like to thank everyone involved for their support thus far!”

The record is available to pre-order through Truthseeker and Holy Roar in the UK, and Through Love Records in Germany. Those pre-ordering through Holy Roar can also grab both Earth Moves and the Svalbard discography LP.

Earth Moves will be hitting the road alongside Rope later in October.
