Meet the new incarnation of Drones with ‘Parasite’

By Ben Tipple

Last week, Surrey punks Drones announced a major shake up in their camp, parting ways with former vocalist Daly George and welcoming ex-Fallow Fields singer Lois McDougall and Bayeux bassist Tim Kramer into the fold. It sees the band reinvigorated, launching into their new incarnation with an increased focus on melody without losing any of their anger and attitude. On ‘Parasite’, McDougall’s voice brings with it a substantial change, yet a very welcome one.

“I’m stoked to be joining Drones,” says Mc Dougall. “We have some really fun stuff happening over summer. Our first release ‘Parasite’ is a self-addressed letter of rage and frustration. Hearing an early demo of this track was what really sold Drones to me. I had vocal melodies swimming around my head instantly.”

“We had loads of fun filiming the video in Brighton. I had to sing the song x2.5 the original speed which was entertaining for the lads… Walking around in public and buying a pint at the pub wearing the crazy make-up was pretty weird though! We’re excited to hear what people think. I hope people like the new Drones and get themselves down to our live shows.”

Meet the new incarnation of Drones via ‘Parasite’, available to hear and view exclusively below. The track is available to download via Lockjaw Records.

As well as a handful of already confirmed shows, Drones have also recently been added to the Punk Rock Weekender at London’s Roundhouse on the 9th July.
