Listen to ‘Keep Bleeding’, the new album from The Doublecross

By Glen Bushell

The Doublecross is the project of Welsh singer songwriter, Jon Greenwood. Today we have teamed up with him to bring you an exclusive listen to his excellent new album, ‘Keep Bleeding’.

“When I wrote ‘Keep Bleeding’ I had one aim – to make a simple rock record which captured the raw emotion of a live performance,’ Explains Greenwood of the record. “Although I enjoyed writing and recording the last two Doublecross albums they both involved a lot of instrumentation and guest musicians. I feel that some of the honesty that you hear when I play live got lost in a wall of sound on those albums so this time round I put together a three-piece band, including myself. Having Jim Williams on drums (The Take, Bedford Falls) and Neil Doran on bass (Bicycle Thieves, The Modern Farewell) provided an effortless chemistry that I am so lucky to have been part of.

“The lyrical themes on this album are as personal as ever and in many ways much darker than the last two albums. I know some people will find this surprising and hard to swallow, seeing as I’m perceived as one of the happiest people punk-rock. I’m not unhappy. I just only really smile for photographs.”

‘Keep Bleeding’ is available as a joint release by Boss Tuneage, No Panic, Tiny Little Creatures and Aaahh Real Records. The Doublecross will host an album launch party on Friday 11th November at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff. Support will come from Pipedream & Hot Mass.
