Jamie 4 President reminisce youthful memories in new single, ‘Mexico 86’

We at Punktastic are premiering ‘Mexico 86’, the melodically fuelled new single from Jamie 4 President.

Featuring Wild Animals vocalist/guitarist Jamie Green, this Madrid based band craft the finest qualities associated with indie rock, emo and powerpop. It is a blend that fans of The Cure, Death Cab for Cutie, The Promise Ring and ‘Clarity’ era Jimmy Eat World would fall for.

“This is about early childhood memories and in my case the first holiday I remember going on with my Mum,” explains Green. “Not that I remember the 86 World Cup but at some point I had the sticker album and I’m sure I’m not the only one of my generation that ended up selling their beloved Star Wars toys. The intro kind of /sounds like The Cure to me, which I can live with, and the cool guitar solo at the end is not me, but our new albums producer Santi Garcia. As Xavi our other guitarrist can testify, it’s got a simple but ridiculously confusing chord sequence.”

‘Mexico 86’ is taken from Jamie 4 President’s upcoming third album, ‘The Heartbreak Campaign’, which will be released on the 15th September via BCore Disc, Pifia Records, Discos Finu and La Agonía de Vivir in Spain and Waterslide Records in Japan. You can pre-order it here.
