Go behind the scenes at Milestones’ ‘Nothing Left’ video shoot

By Ben Tipple

Back in February 2015, Milestones burst onto the scene with ‘Nothing Left’, a melodic track sitting firmly between their British pop-rock contemporaries and a hint of pop-punk. Sheltered below an emo umbrella, their promising sound caught the attention of Fearless Records, who snapped the North Westerners up for the re-release of their ‘Equal Measures’ EP – including the driving ‘Nothing Left’.

Heading back in-front of the camera, the announcement arrived alongside the official video for ‘Nothing Left’; a moody performance shoot, surrounded by dilapidated furniture matching the forlorn style of the track.

During the shoot, the band filmed a behind the scene videos, including conversation with the band members and the video’s director. It also features some snippets of the filming process itself.

Watch the behind the scene clip exclusively below, followed by some words from the band. Milestones will release ‘Equal Measures’ on the 8th July through Fearless Records.

The most memorable moment of shooting the EP would be the whirlwind of dust! It was so hard to breathe let alone sing and move, and keep my eyes open. I remember each take I’d have to drink a bottle of water, hurl up all the dust, brush off and then do it all over again. Nightmare, but great fun.

We were completely ecstatic with the final result, it was such a hard idea to achieve and transfer into the screen effectively. ‘Nothing Left’ was written over a year ago (we were only 17!), but we felt it was a good track to re-release because it showed people where we came from. Our EP and the new songs/single off it shows the progression we made but we wanted to capture the movement we made, rather than ignoring the routes we had from the start.

We were so happy when Fearless wanted to sign us, it’s given us a platform to be able to get more attention. We’ve always been a band that wanted to learn and have always worked hard to get opportunities. With them on board it gives us a whole new level of opportunities to strive towards, we know we’ll give it everything we have.

We’ll be touring this summer with Area 11 in July and Hawthorne Heights in August. Area 11 are one of our favourite bands in the scene and Hawthorne Heights were a band we’ve grown up listening to so its been a privilege to be asked to support them both, and can’t wait to be on the road generally all summer.

Here’s the final product, ‘Nothing Left’, in its complete state.

And here are some more pictures from their filming experience:
