First play of The Windermeres new single, ‘Faux News Shouting Match’

By Glen Bushell

Politics and punk rock have always mixed well together. For years punk has always provided the distorted protest songs for the outcasts, and while some may argue that the message has been lost, a quick listen to Denver-based band The Windermeres and your faith will be restored. Thatā€™s why we are pleased to bring you the first play of their excellent new single, ā€˜Faux News Shouting Match.ā€™

ā€œThis song was inspired by the Iraq War,ā€ explains the bands founder, Chris Windermere. ā€œOne day I saw a news story about a veteran named Sergeant Richard Yarosh. His story was the catalyst for me to write this song. I encourage everyone to look it up. In particular was his meeting George W Bush. I couldnā€™t believe Dubya could look the Sergeant in the eye knowing what he had gone through.

ā€œAs with most of my songs, this one was written on acoustic guitar. I am a huge fan of Sixties music and I wanted to write a song that would be a good protest song. I wanted something with simple language and a direct message. In many ways, this is one of our most simple songs to play.ā€

The track is taken from The Windermeres forthcoming album, ā€˜Continental Divideā€™, which is the first release on the newly formedĀ For The Love Of Punk Records. Pre-orders are available now.
