First play of ‘Not So Fast’, the new track by Overslept

By Ben Tipple

Building on Denver outfit Overslept’s ‘I’ve Been Keeping to Myself’ debut, ‘Not So Fast’ – their opening track from the forthcoming split with Father Mountain – is subtly positive. “Our last full length was an exploration of isolation/borderline solipsism,” the band explain. “‘Not So Fast’ is the response to getting back into the world, and re-acclimating to the balance of patience and persistence. Dirt gives nothing green for free.”

The track demonstrates their blurred line between straightforward melody and complex structures, sitting against Father Mountain’s somewhat grittier sound. The split release features two original tracks from each, plus a take on a choice track by each other.

The release will be available from the 26th August 2016, complimented by a joint tour across the United States.
