First play of Half Sight’s debut album, ‘Rhetoric’

By Glen Bushell

Melodic hardcore can sometimes be a difficult thing to get exactly right. Finding the right balance between passion and aggression can be tricky at time, but Leeds-based band Half Sight have nailed it with their debut album, ‘Rhetoric’. Today we are bringing you an exclusive first play of the album in its entirety.

“With ‘Rhetoric’, we have tried to create something that flows as a singular entity, rather than a playlist of individual tracks, explains the band of the album. “Lyrically and musically we have strived to give the album a direction from start to end. The aim was to push the boundaries of our musicality and to create a good deal of diversity on the record, but at the same time make sure that we defined our sound in this release. Lyrically, the songs start with a more personal tone in the early tracks and move to a wider view of current world issues and how society deals with them.”

“It feels like we’ve been planning this release forever; we wrote the first tracks as soon as we finished our last release and spent the rest of that year completing the writing process. The tracking began last summer but everything just took a longer than we anticipated. It’s great that we still have the same level of enthusiasm for these tracks as we did when we first wrote them and we can’t wait to finally reveal them.”

’Rhetoric’ is released on September 26th, and available to pre-order via iTunes. Half Sight also have a released show planned for the album, which will take place in Leeds on September 30th at Temple Of Boom. Tickets for the show can be purchased here.
