Fill the gaps in your life with H_ngm_n

Sometimes it’s difficult being happy. For Brighton duo H_ngm_n, new EP ‘Lions, Tigers & Velociraptors’ provides an opportunity to tackle unhappiness head on. The three tracks on offer provide dark themes with an upbeat twist. Dirty emo pop, so they say.

“We recorded the EP ‘Lions, Tigers & Velociraptors’ with our friend Tom Adams over the past 10 months. It’s taken a while, but it’s been kinda nice having no pressure to rush it, meant we could really take our time on it,” Chris Childs explains, noting that some of the songs have been in their live rotation for many years. “Some of our mates know them pretty well, but it’s cool that we now how have songs to show people,” Childs adds.

“The general themes of the EP are about growing up, getting older and not always making the right decisions. There’s a lot of stuff about death, and how time feels like it’s going far too quickly. There’s also a strong theme of ignoring issues and problems in life, and just pretending like everything is cool. Kinda miserable when you put it like that, but we like to think that we put a fun spin on sad stuff,” he concludes. “We’re super fun, honest.”

See if the upbeat message shines through by streaming ‘Lions, Tigers & Velociraptors’ below. Super fun, perhaps. Super good, definitely.
