Coffee Breath unfurl articulate new single, ‘Summertime’

By Aaron Lohan

We at Punktastic are exclusively unveiling ‘Summertime’, the new single from Coffee Breath.

Based in Birmingham, this quintet revel in twinkling indie, sincere emo and articulate math rock that fans of Nai Harvest and TTNG will enjoy.

It provides a taste of the quintet’s upcoming debut EP, ‘I’ll Lose Interest in This’, “a largely autobiographical work” according to vocalist Sam Tidmarsh. It explores his experiences in dealing with depression and anxiety, especially its effects on Tidmarsh’s relationships, work and social activities.

“The lyrics are a culmination of a difficult time in my life, and this EP provided me with an outlet,” explains Tidmarsh. “I hope I can help a bunch of people out there who are struggling with their own shit to stop and think, “hey, I’m actually not alone in this. There’s other people out there who struggle and if this guy can write about his experiences with mental health and get through them, so can I.””

‘Summertime’ is taken from Coffee Breath’s upcoming debut EP, ‘I’ll Lose Interest in This’. Produced by Classically Handsome Brutes/Long Body’s Will Cook, it will be released digitally via Further Sky and on cassette through Honeypot Records on the 26th May. The band will also be playing the following shows.
