Cheshire bands Plastic and Brine sonically plunge into vast depths on split EP

By Aaron Lohan

We at Punktastic are exclusively streaming the split EP between Cheshire bands Plastic and Brine, entitled ‘The Light, the Dark and the Overwhelming Nothing’.

The release sees two tracks from each band, sonically linked by an interlude that is the title track. On one side, Plastic display their punk infused grunge, whilst on the other, Brine delve into shoegaze rooted vastness.

Touching on how the record came to be, Plastic had the following to say: “We are currently writing an album and our management is halfway through booking our first UK tour, so there’s a lot going on in the background for us so we needed something to fill in the gap between our last release and that. Brine meanwhile went through some member changes and wanted to get back out there quickly, so this release just really worked out.”

‘The Light, the Dark and the Overwhelming Nothing’ split EP by Plastic and Brine will be available on limited cassette on the 20th December through Backpack Records. The only upcoming shows either band has are the following: Plastic will be playing at Dee Bees in Winsford on the 29th December with Déjà Vega, whilst Brine will also be playing at the same venue and location, except on the 8th December.
