Opening with drawn out sludgy riffs, Hull based trio Cannibal Animal’s ‘I Feel Alive’ suddenly shifts into a barrage of distorted punk, with ominous reverb-heavy vocals. Its atmosphere matches its lyrics, commenting on sex, obsession, anxiety and the part they all play in feeling alive.
“We welcome you to ‘I Feel Alive’ with arms and breathing lungs wide open,” Cannibal Animal cryptically explain. “We personally invite you to sit/stand/dance to this; the sound of human breakdown, that feeling of being trapped within something that you cannot possibly escape and maybe even quite possibly enjoying it.”
It’s an outward acceptance of the dark side of humanity, with a sound to match.
