Basketball Shorts’ new track is ‘Hot and Ready’

By Ben Tipple

Punk and pizza go together like, well, cheese and tomato, right? With that in mind, Austin’s self-proclaimed party punks have delivered an ode to adolescent diet staple in the video for ‘Hot and Ready’. Perhaps also named after the food item, the track is a near-two-minute burst of DIY-punk energy, bringing people together as much with its party sound as with a shared slice or two.

“At its core the video for ‘Hot and Ready’ is love letter from the DIY-music scene to the delicious combination of dough, cheese, and marinara sauce that we can’t live without,” says co-director Ryan Dight of Rinjin Videos, working alongside Jane Urban. “During the brief but stimulating 1:49 seconds we watch pizza-centric relationships form between couples and a full on pizza party erupt around a live performance of the song. Filled with guest appearances from numerous members of the vibrant Austin music scene, this video also serves as glimpse of the incredible camaraderie and musical energy building up in the city right now.”

‘Hot and Ready’, available to view and hear exclusively below, will appear on the band’s debut full-length of the same name. The feel-good record can be pre-ordered on vinyl or digital via Fleeting Youth Records and Austin Town Hall Records. It will be available from the 8th July 2016.
