Back in the mid-to-late 00s, Britain’s alternative underground scene celebrated the likes of the heavily influential Reuben and the altogether unusual Hold Your Horse Is, among the likes of Million Dead, Blakfish, Tubelord and countless more. There was certainly something in the water. Fast forward almost a decade, and a significant proportion of these musical maestros are still active, not least in new four piece SO-CRATES.

Boasting members of the aforementioned Reuben and Hold Your Horse Is, as well as The Fleet Booze Hound Blues Band, SO-CRATES present an unashamed homage to that heyday. ‘V1’ combines the iconic math-rock sound with sheer force, simultaneously looking back and moving forward. It’s a sound that still packs one hell of a punch, and without doubt demonstrates there’s more than enough fuel to keep this particular flame burning for a long time to come.
