Enter into a Miserable world

There’s definitely some truth in the saying “misery loves company”.  After one listen to the new Miserable track ‘Oven’, I didn’t want to be in the company of any other music. The whole song is a trip, and a torrid tale of romantic confusion that cuts into you like a soft knife.

Miserable is the alter-ego of Bay Area vocalist Kristina Esfandiari, who also fronts the crushing King Woman. For all of Miserable’s suffocating tendencies, it musically acts as the light to King Woman’s shade. ‘Oven’ is beautifully layered, and Esfandiari’s vocals are given more room to breathe than on Miserable’s previous material. While the narrative is harrowing, the music is her most engaging yet.
