I admit, it all sounds a bit gimmicky. Fat Mike of NoFX signs homeless folk-punk singer-songwriter Sam Sadowski following a sly YouTube post by Sadowski’s mother. Yet a gimmick, this is not.

The first thing to stand out is that voice. Closet Fiends’ voice is stunning. It’s raspy and gritty, and perhaps more importantly, it’s saying all the right things. Weary perhaps, as could be expected from days hitch-hiking and stowing away. Passionate and brutal.

Add the guitar and harmonica and a bucket load of attitude. Gimmicky my ass.
