Away Days stream their debut EP ahead of release

By Ben Tipple

Barely had we finished pressing publish on the last Away Days news story, and the full four track EP appears online. Featuring ex-members of Blitz Kids, the band will be releasing their self-titled debut on Friday 6th May 2016.

There’s a distinct retrospective emo feel across the EP, spurred on by frontman Jono Yates’ cathartic desire to channel those bands who have helped him through difficult times. “I’m so scared of this man that I’ve become,” he sings on the EP opener ‘Messiah’.

“I’ve personally never been as proud or as anxious about putting out music before,” he tells Kerrang!, who are hosting the premiere. “All these songs are pretty sad because essentially, I’m a pretty sad guy. When you have literally no idea what you’ve been doing or what you want to do with your life at the age of 28 when everyone around you seems so together, you do kind of get this sadness just sat there under the surface.”

Head over to Kerrang! now to hear ‘Away Days’ in full.
