R.E.M. stream previously unreleased demo for ‘Devil Rides Backwards’

By Aaron Lohan

R.E.M. have shared a demo of their previously unreleased song, ‘Devil Rides Backwards’.

It is taken from the upcoming new deluxe edition of their seminal 1992 eighth album, ‘Automatic for the People’. Commemorating the record’s twenty-fifth anniversary, this expanded four disc reissue features previously unreleased material, including twenty never before heard demos from the album’s recording sessions. It will be released on the 10th November via Craft Recordings.

Originally forming in Athens, Georgia in 1980, R.E.M. were credited as being one of the first alternative rock bands. They released a plethora of albums, singles, EPs, and live albums until they called it quits in 2011.
