I forgot to mention - the worst thing about this album is the fade out at the end of 'Undercover Lover'...just sounds like a mistake. Other than that it's pretty much perfect.

Paul forgot to mention the amount of amazing key changes. It's a fucking amazing album, it reminds of the hearing 'Start Something' for the first, not by sound but by just how good this album is compared to most UK releases.

It's ok. Good in parts but the way everyones going on about it i expected Abbey Road.

Exactly. It's good but it's in no way a great leap from bands like you me at six's league.
Smart Casual's sounding better so far imo.

Agree with the previous posts, There are some belters on it, see For better or Hearse for example but alot of the tracks have just passed me by. Ill give it another spin at some point but for now its ok.

still getting into it, but the first thing that hit me was that the vocals on this are absolutely superb. I always assumed this band would either die or go completely shit since they were unfortunate to have a few minutes of scene fame, which usually fucks UK bands right in the arse for eternity. But this record really is just great, can't wait to see where they go from here.

From first listen it's good, but I'm hoping it's a grower

this is probably the most polished album ive listened to in ages. Feels a little TOO polished in places though, and in some parts i just wanted them to kick up the pace a little and show some balls. First track sounds exactly like a Lostprophets song. On Smart Casual, I found Aled's voice tended to range from awesome to a little off in contrast with the rest of the band. However, on this, he nails it on every track.

Fantastic.

Was listening to this yesterday in the background whilst I was fannying about with loads of stuff. I didn't really notice it too much. I'll wait till I get the CD and give it a proper listen! But I've had Matters At All in my head all day today and I'd only heard it once or twice previously, catchy as. I can't work out if it sounds like another song, or if it is just that catchy.

HMV posted my preorder of this today, very excited about getting it as I haven't really listened to the myspace stream. Crappy quality and also can't beat the awesomeness of putting a new CD on for the first time...

good innit.

I don't get the Artbreaker split thing because I tend to listen to albums on loop and it kinda makes me skip the part 2 bit, but hey...

Lilli Rose, For Better For Hearse and Sunshine are tunes !

Also funny how the start of "The Best Is Yet To Come" sounds alot like the start of Lostprophets "Can't Stop, Got a Date With Hate" ?? Anyone else think this ?

The guitar in the intro for undercover lover sounds properly like something else too, I can't put my finger on it though.

On reflection I think it's actually reminding me of the intro for Matters At All and The Morning Afterlife unless anybody can think otherwise?

to be fair it's balls out powerpop - loads of the chord progressions will sound familiar, so it's probably just your brain telling you that you're listening to the wettest (see: not a bad thing) band ever. ;)

Note to Metro Station and all them other terrible bands, this is how you do powerpop without sounding like a bunch of absolute cunts. Take note

So we're agreed: Dirt is as wet as listening to Wet Wet Wet in a swimming pool in the rain wearing a soggy towel on your head, but it's exactly how powerpop should be done. Fuck Mills and "just be in a boy band" thing - this is ace.
