More Than Most – ‘Impossible Is Temporary’

By Kathryn Black

Let’s get straight to the point, it’s no surprise at all that More Than Most sold out O2 Islington last year. The band, made up of four guys from around the world take their cultures and experiences and throw them all together to make a killer alternative rock EP.

Only four tracks long, ‘Impossible Is Temporary’ packs a punch. Treading the line between electronic beats, heavier guitars, and alternative vocals, there’s not a moment of rest in the whole EP. At less than fifteen minutes long, it’s shorter than some people’s trips to the shop for milk, but a hell of a lot more fun.

The songs are bound to translate well into live shows but the video for ‘You Are Not Alone’ is surprisingly old school. With a faded, grey tone, shots of an alternative couple on a date, and A LOT of synchronised headbanging, it’s got a touch of the early noughties about it. Not a bad thing, however: bands of the Myspace generation were loved for a reason. The song itself is a thrilling cacophony of emo tendencies and modern melodies.

‘Remember Who You Are’ begins with high-pitched synths, swooshing into pounding drums and noisy guitars. It gets better with the speedy lyricism of Panic! At The Disco (with the exclamation mark, thanks) and a melodic, singalong chorus. Another exciting chorus in ‘Save Me From Myself’ drives the EP along.

Final track ‘Nightmares’ is, like its namesake, the darkest song of the four. The feelings of desperation and anguish are tangible in lead singer Izzy Stylez’ vocals and his powerful vocals shine throughout.

London’s known for thousands of bands but none that sound quite like this. Breaking the mould with a sound that sounds up to date but that’ll make 20-somethings feel nostalgic, the international guys could turn into international stars.
